Zavala will host the 2013 Calle Ocho event at the downtown Farmer’s Market, corner of 8th and Ohio. The event will feature Latin dishes, music, children’s educational activities, games, folklore dancers, mariachi band, a car show (noon-6pm) and the 1st Annual Dia De Los Muertos Fun Run. The Fun Run begins at 8am. There will also be a Zumbathon beginning at 9am. Special guests will include our local talent, Jessica Martinez. Proceeds of the event will be dedicated to provide local students with scholarships to attend colleges and universities.
The Zavala Hispanic Cultural Initiative is a Non-Profit organization in Wichita Falls. Some of our goals include, helping the Hispanic population get into leadership roles in the community, and one day to build a cultural center to celebrate our culture.
