Wichita Falls, TX - Zavala Hispanic Cultural Initiative was established with a strong commitment to provide the Hispanic community an opportunity to actively participate in the evolution of a greater Wichita Falls. Since its foundation in 2002, Zavala has hosted a wide variety of cultural and educational activities including the Hispanic Leadership Banquet, Calle Ocho Latin Festival, and Las Posadas. In addition, Zavala is partnering with Café Con Leche, promoting a culture of high expectations and the importance of post-secondary education.

On October 4, 2014, Zavala will host the 2014 Calle Ocho Latin Festival at the downtown Farmers’ Market, corner of 8th and Ohio. The event will feature Latin dishes, music, children’s educational activities, games, folklore dancers, the 2nd Annual Día de los Muertos Fun Run, and a Salsa Dance Competition. Proceeds of the event will be help support educational activities in the local Hispanic community including providing students with scholarships to attend colleges and universities.

With great pride and dedication, Zavala continues its commitment to preserve the unique cultural gifts of the Hispanic Heritage and to empower the Hispanic community to become fully engaged in overall community opportunities and challenges.

The Zavala Hispanic Cultural Initiative is a non-profit organization in Wichita Falls.
