Backdoor Theatre on the Main Stage (opening Valentine's Day February 14)

Girls, Guns, Gangsters! Toe tapping, knee slapping, butt spanking tunes that will leave you with wanting to "brush up your Shakespeare" and cool down, because this musical coming to Backdoor Theatre is "Too Darn Hot!" Kiss Me, Kate is a musical with music and lyrics by Cole Porter. The story involves the production of a musical version of William Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew and the conflict on and off-stage between Fred Graham, the show's director, producer, and star, and his leading lady, his ex-wife Lilli Vanessi. A secondary romance concerns Lois Lane, the actress playing Bianca, and her gambler boyfriend, Bill, who runs afoul with some gangsters. The gangsters mistake Fred for owing a debt and to ensure payment, wind up on the Shakespearian stage with the other actors, and end up discovering a love for the dramatic flair of theatre!

Tickets are available online at www.backdoortheatre.org and over the phone at (940) 322-5000. The performance shows every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from Feb. 14-March 8, 2014.
